Feeding Your Bones - Interview with OsteoBoston

Shelly Gladstein, a peer leader for OsteoBoston, which is part of Bone Health Osteoporosis Foundation (formerly NOF) invited me to answer submitted questions on Food for Healthy Bones.
I discussed:
Eating prunes for your bones can help prevent or delay bone loss by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress. My prune blog offers two delightful recipes.
Skelly and I spend a lot of time trying to get the word out about strong bones and how to feed them. But a lot of women we meet don’t give their bones a second thought – until it’s too late.

I’m happy to present my bone supplement interview with Dr. McCormick. We discussed his full line of bone supplements which are an important ingredient for healthy bones and why calcium in lower doses matters.
A number of attendees mentioned they were not able to get into the zoom call.
My 2022 gift to my community is the recording and the transcript.

“Your gut is said to contain over 100 trillion microorganisms or “gut flora,” which is more than 10 times the total number of cells in your body [1]
Unpasteurized sauerkraut contains probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that act as the first line of defense against toxins and harmful bacteria. They can also improve your digestion and overall health.[2, 3, 4]

The Exercise for Osteoporosis with Sarah Purcell webinar had a fantastic turnout.
Sarah discussed:
This Creamy and (dreamy) Collard Yam Soup is bone-loving and vegan.
Cruciferous veggies are part of the Brassica genus of plants and are rich in vitamins and minerals as shown in the chart below. They contain a group of substances known as glucosinolates, which are sulfur-containing chemicals that may fight cancer.
I love the rich color, taste, and texture of this soup. This "cook-once-eat-twice" will make a fantastic big pot for several servings.

I look at my tea break as a mindfulness practice. I sip it peacefully and deliberately. I feel the warmth of the cup as I embrace those precious moments of just being present and still.
But these tea breaks aren’t just for me. One very special tea also makes my Skelly stronger. I’m talking about green tea.
