Don’t Kill Those Weeds… Feed Them To Your Bones

When I was a kid, one of my jobs was to rid the lawn of dandelion weeds. It was tough work. The roots reached deep into the soil and didn’t want to come out.

Even though I associated dandelions with this yearly struggle, I was still always delighted to see the bright yellow flowers pop up every spring. I give them credit for piquing my lifelong curiosity about plants.

Fast-forward 55 years and I rediscovered dandelions in Damanhur, a magical 40-year-old eco-village nestled in the foothills north of Piedmont, Italy.

I spend a lot of time shopping and selecting the best organic ingredients I can find for bone-healthy cooking. My Skelly appreciates my efforts to keep her strong and healthy.

So the last thing I’m going to do is ruin those calcium-rich foods by cooking them in the wrong pots and pans. And by wrong, I mean Teflon and other non-stick pans.

Yeah, it’s nice to have an easy clean-up but not at the price of your health.

Feeding my bones brings me tremendous joy.

However, teaching my clients a variety of bone strengthening foods....well that tickles my bones.  My clients food needs are varied. My clients care about food and their bones and include vegans, vegetarians and paleo eaters.
