It’s Dry January and very cold outside and I love Hot Toddy’s. So here is my way of enjoying this comforting winter drink without any alcohol.

Equipment

  • 1 kettle
  • 1 mug

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz tea hot brewed
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey or simple syrup
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp spice blend **

Instructions
 

  • Prepare your spices in a small jar and keep the remainder to spice up your oatmeal, quinoa porridge or other drinks.
  • Brew your favorite tea.
  • Place the spices, honey (or other sweetener) and lemon juice into a large mug.
  • Add the brewed tea to the mug and mix thoroughly. Please note: All the spice may not dissolve into the tea.

Notes

** Spice Blend Recipe:
This will make enough to have some on hand for other uses such as adding to tea or coffee, oatmeal, or any other dishes that would be enhanced by this spice. Store in small glass jar.
2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
1 tsp cardamom
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric
dash of ground black pepper
