I'm coming to this article late as I began to research metatarsal stress fractures and potential relationship to a bisphosphonate regimen. I was on Fosamax, then Reclast, for 5 years due to osteoporosis and anti-estrogen drugs for breast cancer. My first fracture occurred 1+ years after treatment stopped, the second a year-plus later. Is there any data to suggest that there is an increased risk for fractures even after coming off bisphosphonates? If so, for how long and can anything be done to mitigate? Thanks.

I had an insufficiency fracture and my doctor's response was inadequate. I had 3 months of agony and still have pain. I recently had a bone density test and some blood tests. The doc wants me on Prolia. Thanks for this info for I won't take it now. I was low in calcium, so that is where I will put the emphasis. I am so glad to have read this newsletter. Thanks Irma
